About Tim Firth

Tim Firth grew up in Stockton Heath. He went to Stockton Heath juniors where he wrote his first play at the age of five purely so that he could cast himself as the prince who rescued the girl he fancied and made his best friend (who that girl actually fancied) the backside of the dragon.

Corrupted by the power of theatre he went to Appleton Hall school, started writing songs as well as plays and after a stint at Cambridge became a playwright. He has lived close to Stockton Heath his entire life and many of his plays and films are linked to the area.

These and other musicals such as Our House which he wrote with the band Madness and Calendar Girls The Musical which he wrote with another local lad Gary Barlow have received BAFTA awards, Olivier Awards and are now performed regularly around the world.
